It always surprises us when we hear that someone still thinks that SEO is purely revolved around stuffing keywords into the metadata of a webpage and nothing more. This usually comes up in conversation when we mention the fact that development work would generally be needed as part of an SEO strategy.

Everyone has heard the phrase “content is king”. It’s one of the most well known schools of thought within the Digital Marketing industry because it is true. To this day, strong content can rank a website far better than other aspects of keyword-focused SEO.

The reason these two go hand in hand is because it doesn’t matter how good a book is if you can’t read it. If Google cannot access, interpret and index your content correctly, you will either not get the benefit you should from it, or if things go really pear shaped, you could lose growth instead. Technical SEO is there to ensure that Google is able to correctly find and access your content, interpreting it correctly and allowing your continued growth.
To do this, a developer is often required to implement a number of changes to a website based upon guidance and knowledge from an SEO expert.

When it comes to Technical SEO, a lot of the issues that are found can be addressed by the SEO expert themselves. However, there are always going to be more complex and complicated problems and errors that can arise.
In that case, the SEO will usually go and speak to a developer to run through the problem. From there, they will work together to determine the cause of the issue, including looking at the source code of the website, the extensions, plugins and more to locate any and all bugs and problems that could have caused that issue.
Alone, the SEO would not be able to find and fix that problem. It is by having the ability to communicate and work with a developer that can lead to fixing the problems on a website that would hold Google back from your content.
Separate SEO and Development
One of the most challenging aspects of growing the performance of a website is when you are having to work with a development team in a different location. Communication is extremely important in order for tasks and problems to be completed correctly.
By having both of these teams working in separate locations or businesses can severely slow down and hinder the potential performance growth that your website could achieve.
