The Rise of Mobile E-commerce – Explained!

Mobile has been on a continuous rise over the last few years with no signs of stopping – if you weren’t considering it before hopefully these impressive stats will make you think twice.

Mobile e-commerce in the UK is more prominent than ever, it’s almost hard to believe that back in 2010, only 10% of Google searches took place on mobile, rising to 30% in 2013 and then surpassing desktop for the first time in 2015.

Not only does the UK have the highest number of retailers with iOS and Android Apps (72%) but mobile is also seen as a huge influence in the retail funnel. TakeDomino’s Pizza whose profits shot up because of their mobile app. In the UK, their app-based orders rose by more than 41% – not to mention the 11.5 million people who have already downloaded the app since it’s launch two to three years ago.

In fact, consumers in the UK do more online shopping than anywhere else in the world, spending an average of £161 per month with 40% of transactions taking  place on smartphone.
